The Development Pipeline

What's stopping you from developing? What's stopping your team from developing?

 

One very helpful way of answering this question is to review the Development Pipeline model shown below. This was created by David B Peterson Director of Coaching and Leadership at Google and presented in this paper (https://lnkd.in/e8VKtNFe)

 

The model shows the 'necessary and sufficient' conditions for change to occur. These are insight, motivation, capability, real world practice and accountability. This can be visualised using a pipeline, "with the amount of change a person can make constrained by where the pipeline is most narrow". Reduce the constraint - increase the rate of change.
